Biography

Anguun Cipta Sasmi is a celebrated Indonesian and French singer-songwriter. She is the first Indonesian artist to break into European and American record charts.

Career

Anggun Cipta Sasmi has released five studio albums in English and in French.  Her albums have been certified gold and platinum in several European countries. She has also released a soundtrack album to the Danish film, Open Hearts (2002). She also represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, with the song "Echo (You and me)."

Awards and Achievements

Anggun Cipta Sasmi has received a number of accolades for her achievements, including the Chevallier des Arts et Letters from the Government of France, the World Music Award for World's Best-selling Indonesian Artist. Aside from her musical career, she has been involved in numerous environmental and humanitarian works. She has been appointed twice as the global ambassador of the United Nations, first for the International Year of Microcredit in 2005, and then for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 2009.
