Members of “Willkommen in Berlin” visit Colombia

Diplomatic Club of Germany in its Maxima Cultural Intensity

In the context of the intense cultural activity of the Diplomatic Club of Germany called WiB, Wilkommen in Berlin, a group of its members, had the possibility to make a visit to the country of Colombia between 20th and 29th February 2016.

The diplomatic club of Willkommen in Berlin, is installed in Germany and attached to the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This group seeks from the start to be referenced as a forum for the meeting and discussion, which promotes tolerance, understanding and friendship among different peoples, gathering around 400 members of more than 100 different countries, which are related to the Ministry.

The club members had the opportunity to visit Colombia in the company of Ms. Marcela Nieto Heguy, wife of the Ambassador of Colombia to Germany, H. E. Amb. Juan Mayr Maldonado. All participants expressed their appreciation to Ambassador Juan Mayr and his wife, for organizing this visit, as well as his admiration for a country that they could discover and from which they took a very pleasant memory away.

This trip of the diplomatic club had several stops, being the first one of all Bogota, the capital of the country where they were received by the First Lady of the Nation, Mrs. Maria Clemencia Rodriguez Munera in the Presidential Palace, seat of the Presidency of the Republic. In this city they had a busy schedule including tours in the Gold Museum and the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira, but also had visits to some restaurants and art galleries. They then moved to Armenia and Medellin where they enjoy a tour through the Valley of Cocora, Comuna 13, the Botanical Garden, the Museum of Modern Art, the House Memorial Museum, and the Museum of Antioquia.

Finally the visit of the members of WiB ended in the city of Cartagena, where they were very well received at the Guest House of Illustrious from the Presidency of the Republic, where they concluded the visit to the country with a tour in San Bernardo and the National and Natural Park of the Coral Islands Rosary.
