Observatorul Cultural- Special Review on the Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy in the Levant
“Levant, the cradle of Cultural Diplomacy. Rediscovering the Mediterranean” Forum
A special conference entitled “Levant, the cradle of Cultural Diplomacy. Rediscovering the Mediterranean” took place in Bucharest between 23-25th May 2013. The Event was organized by the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin and sponsored by the Government of Romania, The Parliament of Romania. The Conference lasted three days and consisted of debates about the past, present and future of Cultural Diplomacy in the Balkans, Middle East and North Africa. The focus was also on the importance of the role of the Mediterranean in the 21st Century.
The main goal of the Conference was to lay the foundations of a number of shared projects between researchers, writers, artists, architects and academics.
All the speeches and lectures of the conference will be collected and published in English by the Romanian Cultural Institute and distributed to the Romanian Cultural Institutes all over the world.
The co-organizers of the event were the University of Bucharest, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the Romanian Foundation for Democracy, Black-Sea Caspian Sea International Fund and the National Authority for Scientifical Research. The media partners of the Forum were TVR, Radio Romania Actualitati and Cotidianul.
