Biography

Prof. Dr. Arthur Hirsh has been Director of the Webster University Vienna (WUV) for the past fifteen years.

Academic Career

He earned his PhD in Modern European History from the State University of New York at Binghamton. His most recent endeavour involved the move to a new campus at the Palais Wenkheim in Vienna. In 2002 Dr. Hirsh supplemented his Vienna responsibilities by taking on the Directorship of Webster’s Thailand campus for six months. 

Career

Prior to joining Webster, Dr. Hirsh served as Director of Virginia Tech’s Center for European Studies and Architecture in Riva San Vitale, Switzerland and was a faculty member at Boston University, both at their home campus in Boston and at European locations in Belgium, France, Germany and Italy.  

Achievements

Since Mr. Hirsch started his position of Director, WUV has achieved Austrian accreditation and re-accreditation as an Austrian private university. Furthermore enrollment has grown by 80%, MBA partnerships have been established in Slovakia and Hungary and more than 15 FTE research faculty positions have been added.

Publications

Mr. Hirsch is the author of The French New Left: An Intellectual History from Sartre to Gorz.
