Romania to take part at International Arts and Crafts Fair in Jerusalem

Romanian products are to be put on sale in Jerusalem

In cooperation with the Romanian Culture Institute in Tel Aviv, The Romanian Peasant Museum in Bucharest, and Romanian craftspeople are presenting their products, offering ad-hoc workshops and detailed explanations about the crafts, traditions and rural tourism in this area in Jerusalem between August 3rd -15th 2015.

The International Arts and Crafts Fair in Jerusalem is the largest event of its kind in Israel, bringing together more than 150 artists from Israel and 30-40 international artists, who all present crafts made with various techniques, from the traditional to contemporary manufacturing technology, small series’ or unique items. Also, during the fair there are organized workshops, live demonstrations as well as music, dance and unconventional theatre performances, together with an international culinary festival. The event enjoys great interest from the Israeli public; around 100,000 people visit it annually. This event has been held annually for almost 40 years.

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv presents curators and popular artists like Simona Hobincu and Oana Otilia Halpern, and traditional suit designers Doina Nistor, Lucia Todoran. At the event The Romanian Peasent Museum will hold demonstrations and present their publications.

Romanian participation in the last years was very successful, presenting traditional art objects from Bucovina, Transylvania, Moldova and a show by  “Dorna Dorului”, a group of young folklore dance and music performers. The Romanian stand was visited by the Mayor of Jerusalem, Mr. Nir Barkat, who was very interested in the Romanian folklore and traditions.
